I have some exciting news. Last week we launched three new guides for the Health and Safety Generalists profession.

The development of these guides is part of a joint initiative between the Health and Safety Association of NZ (HASANZ), NZ Institute of Safety Management (NZISM) and the NZ Safety Council to address the growing need for more Health and Safety Generalists in the workforce. We want to create awareness for individuals and organisations about the growing demand and the changing nature of skills required for a role as a Health and Safety Generalist.

The guides are for three different groups:

  • Individuals looking for a new or transferable career in health and safety and are curious about knowing more about the core skills and attributes required to be a successful Health and Safety Generalist.
  • Recruiters looking to increase their understanding of the technical and non-technical skills required to be a Health and Safety Generalist.
  • Managers wanting to match the right people with the right roles to address gaps within their organisation.

We are making the resources available and accessible to everyone and anyone to help us collectively build momentum and interest in the Health and Safety Generalist profession as an attractive and viable career path.

I would like to invite you to read the guides and share this information with as many people as possible, so together we can enhance the value of the Health and Safety Generalist profession across Aotearoa.

You can have access to the guides here
