This is a full day workshop organised by the AIOH Asbestos Special Expertise Group (SEG). This CES will include several presentations from experienced professionals followed by interactive discussion sessions. The discussion sessions will be facilitated by AIOH Asbestos SEG members and will provide an opportunity for participants to share and learn from each other’s experiences. The topics covered will include: • Asbestos from Wittenoom to mining operations today. • A description and discussion on elongated mineral fibres, asbestiform fibres and cleavage fragments. • Regulation, assessment and management of asbestos in soil, recycled products and waste, including several case studies. • Consistency in risk assessment of asbestos containing materials for asbestos registers, management plans and prioritised removal programs. • Mesothelioma and lung cancer: What is the risk?
