|Who:||The Basic Principles Course [BPC] provides core introductory knowledge for an individual to begin a career in Occupational Hygiene [OH], or for an allied professional to rapidly develop a better understanding of OH, such as doctors, nurses, safety professionals, engineers and general HR managers.|
|What:||The BPC, is designed to meet the needs of people wishing to study at an Introductory level [called “The Foundation level” by the Occupational Hygiene Training Association [OHTA]|
|It is a hybrid 5-day programme that provides a basic introduction to the key practices of OH, namely Anticipation, Recognition, Evaluation and Control of Risks to health in the workplace. The programme will introduce participants to chemical exposures [particulates, solvents and gases], noise exposures and measurement, the thermal environment, lighting, radiation, ergonomics, behavioural science.|
|Format:||Face to Face presentation, COVID – Safe practices, Extensive, relevant Practical Sessions, and casual discussion with practioners/lecturers, available after each session.|
|There is pre-reading and pre-course work. The examination will be conducted on the Friday afternoon.|
|Evaluation:||OHTA issued written Examination, with BOHS result certification|

The Melbourne Training Centre is located in Oakleigh, close to Public Transport from the city centre. There are numerous accommodation options available within walking distance of the venue, at reasonable Corporate rates.
